The USA Softball of Sacramento Select program is designed to enhance the recreational league experience by creating a more competitive environment for players to participate in while remaining in a recreational league setting. This program will allow recreational leagues to form teams to represent their league in the Select program. A Select B team is a competitive all-star level team made up of players from our league who are chosen to compete against other top teams from across Northern California and beyond. These teams typically consist of the strongest players from each age division who demonstrate high skill, commitment, and sportsmanship. 

Requirements:

As a Select B player we require you to play on one of our recreational teams for Galt Youth Softball, as well as the select team in order to be eligible. A requirement of 75% of games played for your rec team must be met. If those requirements are not met you will be made an ineligible player and corrective action will be taken by the coach and/or GYB board. Select B players can not have affiliation with any team outside of GYB or Select this includes: guest playing, open workouts, practices, etc. If you do, you will be removed from the team immediately and will not be given a refund. 

Age Divisions:

10U, 12U and 14U ages are all available to try out. If you are interested in coaching/assistant coaching please email secretary@galtyouthbaseball.com . Each team filled will include a minimum of 13 no more than 15 girls. You must try out for your age division. If you are wanting to play up a division you must try out for both. In the event that a team is unable to field 13 players for their team an exception will be taken to select a player from a lower age group. The younger player must not have been selected by the lower team. In the event that GYB decides not to field a specific age group in any particular year, the players in that age bracket will be allowed to try out for the higher age bracket as long as they attended the age appropriate tryout first. 

Tryouts/Select Schedule: 

Try outs will be held December 7th at McCaffrey MS. There will be NO make-up tryouts. Please bring a copy of your birth certificate and headshot to the tryout. This information is required to play Select and has to be submitted to USA Softball. Once the teams have been formed you will be notified by your coach and practices will start immediately. Catchers and Pitchers will do a separate try out at the end to gauge their skill. Pre-registration is not required to tryout -Please arrive 30 minutes prior to for check in and warmups -10U at 2pm -12U at 3pm -14U at 4pm -Pitchers and Catchers at 5pm 

Tournaments/Games: 

 -February 14-15: Tournament 1 (3 pool play games Saturday; single elimination Sunday)         

-February 21-22: Tournament 2(3 pool play games Saturday; single elimination Sunday)      

 -March 8: 3 game round robin  

 -March 15: Bracket Play Single Elimination                          

 -April 19: 3 game round robin  

 -April 26: Bracket Play Single Elimination 

-May 23-24: Championships (3 pool play games Saturday; single elimination Sunday          

-June 20-21: Association Championship (Sacramento) (Mandatory)                              

 -July 21-27: Western Nationals *MUST QUALIFY*              

**Top 2 teams in division of Association Championship MUST attend POST SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP**      

Cost: 

Registration includes fees for the spring recreational season as well as entry fees for Select tournaments, uniforms, league associated expenses, discretionary team funds and equipment. Fundraising can/will be done with the approval of the GYB board to help cover costs associated. -

Total cost is $760 per girl 

-$500 for Select Program: includes tournament fees, uniforms, league expenses 

 -$260 for GYB Spring Rec registration (additional fees may occur for late registration) 

Practices: 

Practices will begin once the team is selected. Days and times will vary depending on your coach(s) and field availability. Your select practices will continue from December through the end of January until your rec coach has started practices. Once rec starts the players will be committed to their rec teams and select practices will be limited to avoid burnout. Select practices during the rec season will only take place on non-tournament Sundays.
